After many years working as a safety professional, from a field safety person to a corporate safety director, he is now serving as the Vice President of Risk Management at Certified Training & Safety, Inc.  CTS primarily focuses on safety, health and training issues. He provides: mine safety expert witness services in administrative hearings and civil cases, assistance for operations under Pattern of Violation notices, training program evaluations, instructor monitoring and training, expert safety and health evaluations and technical advice regarding MSHA rules, policies and interpretation and due diligence reviews.  Mr. Banks is an authorized safety instructor in multiple categories and classes of Forklifts, Aerial Work Platforms, OSHA and MSHA (part 48 training).  He is the author or co-author of seventeen technical publications on equipment safety as well as numerous OSHA and MSHA safety training programs.

Houston Banks has over 40 years of safety and training experience.   

Mr. Banks began his career at Armco Steel Mill, starting as a heavy equipment operator/mechanic and completing a five year apprentice program. After the steel mill closed, he joined The International Union of Operating Engineers quickly becoming a Master Mechanic over the I.U.E.O. training site.  At that time he also received his trainer certification from Texas A&M.  He was responsible for the development and implementation of safety policies and procedures as well as training materials with respect to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) federal regulations.
